my Fn key in the lower left hand corner is on and causes the blue markings on
the keys to show up instead of the normal white markings. does anyone know
how to turn it off?

I just had the same problem and read on another blog that you have to turn
off the number lock. It should go back to the regular letter keys as soon as
you do.

yes, thats the numberlock not the FN key.
if you cant turn it off by hitting the numberlock, you can try to open
the onscreen keyboard and turn it off there.
