How is the best way to copy all files from a Vista based PC to a XP based PC?
I don't think Easy Transfer will work in that direction.

Hi, Paul.
You have not told us ANYTHING about your computer or about your own computer
abilities. So any answer we give must be generic - and probably won't fit
YOU.
If it were MY computer, I would simply open the cases and move the HD from
the Vista to the XP, copy the files, and then move the drive back into the
Vista case. Or move the HD from the XP into the Vista case, move the files,
then move it back. Depending on whether I wanted to use XP or Vista to
actually do the copying. If you have a LOT of files to move, either choice
would be much faster than WET.
Or, depending on how many drives I have available, I might just leave the
file-laden drive in the XP case and delete the Vista OS from it, then
install a new HD and a new Vista OS in the Vista case.
If the volume is not too great and you have one or more USB flash drives
handy, it should be an easy task to copy your files to one of those on the
Vista machine, then move it to the XP machine. Just like we used to do with
floppies. Best Buy has a 4 GB Cruzer for $28 this week and Wal*Mart's
prices sometimes beat that; you should be able to get an 8 GB or even larger
for under $100. And these thumb drives come in handy for lots of other
chores, too. ;<)
If you give us at least a few details about your hardware and what you want
to do, we can probably give you more specific advice.
