Post subject: Explorer System menu no longer usable... Add to elertz Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windows>vista>file_management (more info?)
Suppose I open "C:\foo\bar"; the Explorer window displays
the contents of the "bar" folder. I want to get to the
properties of folder "bar".
Under XP, I could right-click on the icon in the window
title bar and choose "Properties". Voilà, done.
The icon has disappeared under Vista, but if you right-
click there, you still get the system menu, but a crippled
one with just Restore/Move/Size/Minimize/Maximize/Close.
I now have got to get up one level to "C:\foo" first,
look for "bar", right-click on it and choose "Properties".
Is somebody aware of a solution which would restore the
full system menu ? Switching to "classic view" does not
change the content of the menu...

Well, yes. But somehow, this means you have to always have
the navigation pane open...

You can also right click on the icon in the Details Pane, or right click in
the background whitespace of the view.

Hi Justin,

Well, sort of. But both solutions don't provide the same menu as right-
clicking on the item itself in the explorer.
If you have "Computer" selected in the explorer, you really have to right-
click on the "Computer" node itself to get to the "Manage" command;
neither right-clicking on the background whitespace, nor right-clicking
on the icon in the details pane will show the full contextual menu !
