Post subject: Event ID 11 error on wakeup??? Add to elertz Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windows>vista>hardware_devices (more info?)
I'm having a problem. I'm running Vista x64 Ultimate.
I'm getting hundreds of Event ID 11 errors in my Event Viewer. The
source is atapi. Here is what it states:
The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Ide\IdePort2.
Now, there is another twist to this. I ONLY get this error after waking
up from either standby or hibernate. I do not get this error on first
boot or subsequent reboot.
What could be causing this? Should I be worried about it?

try installing the latest chipset and 'Video card'
(http://www.nvidia.com/object/winvista_x64_175.19_whql.html) drivers for
your system.
BTW, do you have SP1 installed? is the power plan on high performance?
try to unplug your DVD, that should be the IDE drive, see if it happens
with it unplugged.
if the issue continues after that, i would say it's normal, i remember
seeing this on xp alot.

I already installed the latest chipset and video card drivers, after a
clean install, which already has SP1 slipstreamed.
I was able to rectify the issue by ensuring that all power connectors
were connected securely to the drives; one of them was loose. That seems
to have done the trick.
