Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windows>vista>mail (more info?)

On my old computer I had Outlook express and was able to switch Identities
from one email account to another and everyone received there own emails now
that I have Windows mail I can't figure out how to separate my email accounts
so we can switch identies and each receive our own emails. I have two
separate email accounts set up. Is this possible?

(boilerplate reply)

You can add multiple accounts, via Tools - Accounts - Add, but Windows Mail
doesn't have identities or a password option....

Windows Mail puts email from all accounts into the same Inbox, and there's
no setting to change that. When you send a message, you can select which
account to send from, by clicking on the From: box.

Here are a few alternatives to keep your email separate...

1. Create folders for each email account and create message rules to move
email addressed to each account into the appropriate folder.

2. Create and use different Windows Users, each with WM accessing only
their email account. (This is how you set a password to keep other users
out.)

3. Use the newer Windows Live Mail which has separate folders for each
account, but no identities or password:

4. Purchase WMIDs which adds identities to WM

5. Use Windows Mail for one account, Windows Live Mail for another.

Windows unfortunately saw fit to remove the ability for separate
accounts in Vista's Windows Mail

All you can do is set up message rules so that all mail for a
particular email address goes into its own folder, or, preferably, set
up different users and let them log into their own area.

Control Panel --> User Accounts etc. --> Add Remove User Accounts
