Post subject: Dial-up Connection Dialog Box Add to elertz
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windows>vista>mail (more info?)

I recently set-up Windows Mail in my new Vista laptop. I transferred all of
my email settings from outlook express manually and I'm on-line using a
wireless router which is connected to a fiber-optic network. But when I try
to send a message, the "Dial-up Connection" dialog box stops it from
transmitting. It appears to be trying to connect via dial-up, which I don't
use. I've gone through the "Accounts" drop-down menu several times to try
and see where it is making the decision to dial instead of using the
connection thats open and operating. I've also noticed it tends to freeze
up when I try to access the "Connections" tab in the "Accounts" folder.
Does anybody know what's going on?
Iwould appreciate any help.
Thanks, Bob C

That symptom usually means the account is corrupted.
Delete that mail account, restart Windows Mail, then recreate
the account.

If no improvement, tell us which antivirus you are running.

I would try opening windows mail **after** I opened Internet Explorer>file
menu>work offline.

Open WM.

I would then go to tools>options>general, and disable 'send and receive at
start-up'.

Now go to tools>accounts>select each account in turn>properties>connection
tab, and remove the check mark from 'always connect using' >apply/OK.

Get back if you still have a problem?
