Post subject: Can DVD Maker work with mpg files Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windows>vista>music_pictures_video (more info?)
DVD Maker works fine on my computer when I make a DVD from wmv files.
When I try to make a DVD from mpg files I find I can add the files but when
I go to "next" a pop up box says "Windows DVD Maker has stopped Working".
Is this a fault in my settings or do mpg files need to be converted to wmv
files to work with DVD Maker.

Erik,
I've run into the exact same problem and after several hours on the phone
with technical support, the conclusion is that movie maker cannot import mp3
files so they will need to be converted to wav or wma files to be able to
import.
I'm trying to get information about converting those files as well in my own
post,
so you can check that out too. (I can download the cdex that was
recommended to convert the files, but I can't pull up directions to
understand how to convert them or run cdex because I have Vista and the
directions aren't compatible with Vista. I hope to get solutions to that.)
I'll keep watching to see if you find a solution as well.

Is sptlib02.dll on your system? What vendor produced that file? That
appears to be a crash in that file... that doesn't seem to be a Microsoft
file... ?

The AVER TV program was installed on the date that file was created.
2 C:\Windows\System32\AP6\AP\Components\Filters\X64
3 C:\Windows\System32\AP6\AP\Components\Filters\X86
The MSXML 4 SP2, NVIDIA Drivers, Silent Hunter 3 & SiSoftware Sandra
Lite programs were all installed on the date those two files were created.

What are the file version propreties for that file? There may be some more
information there.
Renaming that file or uninstalling that software would potentially fix you
up here... =\

I renamed the file and DVD Player is now working fine with mpg files. The
AVER TV program also still appears to be working okay.
I could not find anything about the file version properties for the file.
