In XP one needs third party DLA drivers to be able to randomly R/W
data to a DVD.

Is this still the same in Vista, or did Microsoft build that
capability directly into the OS?

Thanks.

You need a third-party program.

I'm a bit surprised Micrsoft didn't take care of that in Vista. The
third party software is a pain in the butt, crashing XP everytime the
disk is ejected.

Ah well...

Thanks.

And, Bill, if you're going to use Roxio EZ Media Suite 9, then need you to
patch the DLA driver after installing the Product. Little known 'clerical
error'...as I discovered after much head scratching!!!!. Thats available at

http://kb.roxio.com/content/kb/RecordNow/000131CR?set-locale=en

make sure you patch for 32bit or 64bit Vista.
