Hi,

I start up my computer, and am connected to the internet fine, yet when i go
to 'connect to a network' there are red X's beside both my VPNs. if i go to
'Manage network connections' and right click the vpn, and click connect, it
connects fine.

It could be a 3rd party security software. For troubleshooting, please start
the Vista with clean boot. Please post back with the result.
