Just a note to Win98 users, Avira AntiVir will NOT work on your 98 machine
so don't waste your time trying it.
I spent 1/2hr getting totally rid of AVG and went to install Avira and got a
runtime error. Avira does not indicate on its home page that it will not
work with Win98, at least not that I could see (no minimum system
requirements stated). All told, I wasted about an hour of my time and
finally installed the free version of Avast.
However, I may try Avira on my Win2k machine instead of the NSW2003Pro that
is on there now.
Dual-boot Win98SE-Win2000Pro.

I believe you are correct, but they should list the minimum system
requirements on their HomePage for those that didn't see their announcements
earlier.
I believe it is called customer service.
Thanks again for the info, I always respect and learn from your comments.

Thanx for the kind words.
In this case I agree. They used to show two downloadable versions.
One for the Win9x/ME family and the other for the NT familiy members Win2K, WinXP and
Vista. Now they have rewritten those pages to use a third party download site and no
longer state which OS' in which the software is applicable. It is a shortsighted folly in
my view.
