Post subject: SuperAntiSpyware calls Burn4Free file a Trojan Add to elertz
Archived from groups: alt>comp>anti-virus (more info?)

About a week ago, I scanned my computer with superantispyware and it
called a file named B4FM.DLL in the C:\WINNT\system32 directory a
Trojan.Unclassified-Packed/Suspicious. I trust superantispyware so I
quarantined the file. I had been using a CD/DVD burning software called
burn4free but after it kept erasing my CD's I decided to uninstall the
program. During the uninstallation process it said that it could not
delete B4FM.DLL in the C:\WINNT\system32 directory. Does this mean that
burn4free installed a Trojan on my computer? The burn4free program ran
fine after the file had been quarantined and actually did a great job of
erasing one of my CD's that had some of my files which I burned onto it.
Has anyone else had Trojan/virus issues with this program? I did scan
the file with Kaspersky Internet Security 7 before quarantining it and
Kaspersky didn't detect any problems.

The burn4free website is http://www.burn4free.com if you need it.

I haven't tried burn4free. Judging by the reviews at
http://fileforum.betanews.com/review/1058031258/1/view
I would not try it. Check the above link for names of some alternatives.

I used to use Burn4Free without any problems. You quarantined the file
in question hence the message.

Thanks for the link. All the information about what registry entries are
made and what files are installed will definitely be helpful. Is a
potentially unwanted application a possible virus issue? Since burn4free
ran fine after the file was quarantined, is it safe to continue using
the application as long as the file is quarantined?

I never saw those problems, but I haven't used it in more than two
years. My machine never came with burning software (I guess they wrongly
thought native xp didn't need it). So I was in the market for freeware.
RecordNow came with my external LiteOn DVD burner and I've been very
happy with it.
