Post subject: Spybot and German text Archived from groups: alt>comp>virus (more info?)
hi all,,,,
got one helluva cold/flu at the moment and it seems my comp
has picked up a 'bug' too.
dont know how you guys in this group work, but i'd like to post
a screen-shot of what spybot sd found, but i will wait for
permission.
in the meantime, i'll type out what the end result of running spybot
showed;;;;

would appreciate some assist with this.
my comp' has been running slower in last week plus the cursor
changes to hour-glass every 3 seconds, the indicator light reflects
this too.
i did a google on 'vms-server' but didnt get a great deal of joy.
i am what i consider to be a Cautious comp' user. i have many anti
parasite scenarios and an anti-v as well.
dont think i've been anywhere lately that would constitute fussing,
but nonetheless i have obviously picked up something.

You can post a captured ScreenShot JPEG in; alt.binaries.comp.virus
Use the same post title as you used in this post.
I also suggest the following...
Dump the contents of the IE Temporary Internet Folder cache (TIF)
Start --> Settings --> Control Panel --> Internet Options --> Delete Files
Dump the contents of the Mozilla FireFox Cache
Tools --> Options --> Privacy --> Cache --> Clear
1) Download TrendMicro Sysclean by other of the following 2 methods
Update Ad-aware with the latest definitions.
3) If you are using WinME or WinXP, disable System Restore

4) Reboot your PC into Safe Mode and shutdown as many applications as possible.
5) Using both the Trend Sysclean utility and Ad-aware, perform a Full Scan of your
platform and clean/delete any infectors/parasites found.
(a few cycles may be needed)
6) Restart your PC and perform a "final" Full Scan of your platform using both the
Trend Sysclean utility and Adaware
7) If you are using WinME or WinXP,Re-enable System Restore and re-apply any
System Restore preferences, (e.g. HD space to use suggested 400 ~ 600MB),
Reboot your PC.
9) If you are using WinME or WinXP, create a new Restore point

It seems the system is ok, but the program got a problem. The
"Zugriffsverletzung" might be called a page fault, you should check if
your RAM is good (I don't think it is bad, just in case).

There might be a lot of reasons for such behaviour. If you aren't sure,
check your system with HijackThis! for any (maybe even legal) entries
that might be the cause of the slowdown.
Some often overlooked sytem decelerators are background programs which
are supposed to supervise the system operations, ie personal firewalls,
and anti virus programs. They use resources, like any program does, and
that *has* an impact on the performance. A botched update of the engine
might cause such an effect. If you are sure that this isn't the reason,
the HijackThis! log might provide a hint where to start searching.
