Yes, it's an option, but so is Kaspersky.

Isn't Avira Anti now using the Kaspersky scan engine?

I wouldn't use the retail versions of either. The enterprise version of
McAfee is OK, and works quite happily with SpyBot.

Absolutely NEITHER! Both are terrible anti virus software. If the
choice was between them I'd vote for no anti virus for sure. NOD32 is
one of the best out there, and pretty cheap considering the two-daily
updates. Amazing.
