For now, that's probably the best thing to do.

Do know that with intelligent use (not saying you're not) even a Windows
installation will run for years without needing "reinstallation." I've
an old PIII/650mHz/256MB ram sitting here over on the corner of my desk
still running the original install of Windows 2000 some ten years ago.
And running it well.

I think my problem is that I install lots and lots of software, and I pay
the price. I should get a core of applications and stick with it!

This is where the intelligence is the big factor. <g>

Proper un-installation and some periodic registry cleaning will help.

Please do not add a sig delimiter at the top of your reply. This causes
conforming news readers to snip off everything below it, leaving no
content to reply to. I had to manually select your comment above. You
should also snip the sigs of others when you reply, if your reader can't
do it on its own.

The following is a conforming sig delimiter: hypen-hyphen-space-return
on a separate line. "-- "

Don't be so gullible. That file did nothing to your hosts or harm your
computer. If you keep believing the trolls like Leythos then you will never
get your system fixed. Leythos is a troll and he is only here to make people
like you screw up your system or make you believe you have. Your hosts file
is located here C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc open it using notepad and
then cut and paste the contents here in this newsgroup. Doing so will prove
to you and everybody else what a troll liar Leythos is and that he told you
a bunch of BS about me and my software.

Ignore any posts made by the Stalker Leythos, he's still in love with me.
He started stalking me after I spurned his advances towards me.
He said he would stop Stalking me If I stopped mentioning his name.
As you can see that does not work. He is a sick obsessive STALKER.

It's not BS, but maybe that one didn't change the host file, but you do
have fixes on your site that DO change the host file to BLOCK REPUTABLE
and GOOD Sites - and you do it without telling people you're doing it.

You can't deny that at least one of your "Fixes" changes the hosts file
to block sites that contain reputable anti-malware tools.

In all honesty, the so called 'Explorer Shell Fix tool' is just a batch file that
registers numerous DLL and OCX files. There is no hosts file alteration in this one. It
is the Remove-It utility that can install a malicious Hosts file. This BAT file tries to
do way more that its name implies like registering the Internet Connection Wizard Library,
Certificate Dialogs, Base Smart Card CSP DLL and the Schlumberger Smart Card CryptoAPI
Library. I doubt that anyone who would use this BAT file would even know what a Smart
Card is, let alone, have one. Certainly they have NOTHING to to with the Explorer Shell.
Now here's the kicker... If someone WAS using a Smart Card, the registration of these
crptographic DLLs could overwrite Smart Card middleware cryptographic APIs from vendors
such as ActivIdentity and Litronic. This could hinder the user's respective use of their
Smart Cards thus causing the user to have to re-install the Smart Card middleware.
Registering DLL files willy nilly can have negative consequences. This so called
'Explorer Shell Fix tool' does just that, willy nilly registers DLL files.
