"Virulent" has been applied metaphorically to so many things that are
not viruses that it's achieved the status of cliche. I'd avoid it when
speaking about viruses, in fact....

And to pick another nit: the correct plural of virus is -- wait fir it!
-- virus, but with a lengthened /u/, as if spelled viroos.
