When I had Publisher '97 I could add edit points to a person in a picture and
cut it from the background. I now have a picture that the person is wearing a
dark suit against a dark background and I want to outline the person, cut it
from the picture and put in in front of a lighter background. How do I do
this now in Publisher 2000?

Insert, Picture, From file, on the right there is a hand icon, click it, select
Picture only. The Edit Points become active.

Mary, do you mean the Irregular Wrap tool? That's the closest I could find,
but that only has 4 points...or can you add more?

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: In Word you can "Edit Wrap Boundary" which is what I
want to do. I click on the icon pull or stretch the points to each point to
outline the person.Once the picture has been edited and you can see the
dotted line all around the person I tried to cut it/drag it but I can't
remove it from the rest of the picture. You can do this in Publisher but I
can't find the button to access this feature.

The OP is misremembering. It wasn't until 2002 you could create wrap points. I
have all the versions and nary a one can you add points. Only the corner points
are adjustable.
If it is a vector image then all the points can be adjusted.

btw...with only 4 points to adjust can hardly see that it's worth the effort
to use, unless you're into trapazoidial wrappage
