Post subject: photos as links in Publisher 2002 XP Archived from groups: microsoft>public>publisher>prepress (more info?)
Hi Friends,
I am trying to make about 100 photo ID tags in publisher using a mailmerge
from an excel doc that contains all the names, employee numbers and links to
..jpg files of the pictures. The merge looks great, except the text box where
the picture is supposed to be is showing the text of the links instead of
opening them up as the picture itself.
Can the merge do this? If so, how? The help menu says to go to edit -
object, but this option is grayed out.

You can't merge pictures in Publisher 2002. This is a feature of the catalog
merge in 2003 & 07. I believe you can merge this information within Excel.

Thanks Mary - I will try it in Excel, but I don't know if that will suit the
need, since getting repeatable formating and imaging on a template is
critical.
