Post subject: pdf printing
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>visio>printing (more info?)

hi there - I created an org chart and used a photo as a background (is
sitting on the page vs background). When I print the chart into a pdf it
omits the picture for some reason. I saved my visio file earlier as a .gif
file and that did not get rid of my picture. Any feedback is welcome!

Hello Vicky,

When you say you printed to pdf are you using the File / Publish to PDF or
XPS... option (in Visio 2007) or are you printing via something like
Distiller? If it's the former, then there's an option (click the 'Options'
button on the Save As dialog) that allows you to 'Include background' which
obviously needs to be checked. If it's the latter then there's a 'No
Background' option in the standard Print dialog, which needs to be
unchecked.

A couple of other things to think about are:

1) Is the image shape set not to print (Right-click Format / Behavior /
Behavior tab / 'Non-printing shape')?

2) Is the image shape on a non-printing layer? You can see which layers the
shape belongs to by right-clicking on the shape and selecting - Format /
Layer... and to see the respective layer properties - View / Layer
properties... / Print checkbox (from the menu bar).

Hope that helps.

Best regards

John
