I only drew the distinction between the free MS SQL Server product from
which Mr. Kempf omitted the "Express" part of the name and the full MS SQL
Server product, so others would not be misled.
His other assertions here fail any test for merit, especially his claim that
"It (SQL Server Express) has a great interface- SQL Server Management Studio
Express Edition." implying that "interface" is in competition with Access.
The "Management Studio" is, as its name implies, for managing your SQL
Server and it is very good for what it is intended to do; it most definitely
does not have the ability to create database applications for users.

No, of course Access is not part of the Windows distribution. I tried to be
quite clear that the _Jet database engine_ is included with Windows.

No misstatement. I do not engage in debate or argument with Mr. Kempf, and
generally do not even comment on his posts unless it is necessary to keep
him from misleading some new users of Access or of the newsgroup-- and
that's what I was doing.
And, as I said, the Jet database engine has been included with Windows for
many years.

what.. SQL Server Express doesn't have Analysis Services. and SQL
Agent.
If you need SQL Agent, run MSDE 2.0
It''s still a 100 times better database _ENGINE_ than coasting down
the information highway _WITHOUT_AN_ENGINE_.

No, and it's not included in regular Windows, either. DAO != Jet --
they are completely independent, and Jet is included with Windows by
default and DAO is not.
> which components of JET don't work on X64 editions of Windows?
You're the one making the argument here, so *you* tell *us* what
parts of Jet don't work.

Ability to link to a server other than SQL Server.
