Post subject: Is it possible to I create a table of contents in an access Archived from groups: microsoft>public>access>reports (more info?)
I have a lengthy report for which I need to create a table of contents. I
know that I would need to do a sub report, but is there a way to create a
table of contents in Access?

What version of Access are you using?
Here is a method for Access 2000.
See Microsoft KnowledgeBase article:
210269 'ACC2000: How to Create a Table of Contents or Index for a
Report'
For Access 97 and older:
131588 'ACC: How to Create a Table of Contents or Index for a Report'
You must actually step through each page of the report (in preview, or
by actually printing it).
Then run a separate report, using the TOC table made by the first
report, to print out just the Table of Contents.

Yes, go to the MS KnowledgeBase; there's an article there on how to do it.
Sorry I don't know the number. Also check <a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://www.mvps.org/access" target="_blank">www.mvps.org/access</a> and go to the
reports section to see if there is anything there.

Thank you for referring me to that article. This is exactly what I needed.

Well, this is a very old thread, but maybe it can be resurrected. I have
tried the instructions given in Microsoft's post 210269 with no luck. It does
not work with my file and I have Access 2007. Any suggestions?

Not sure if this is what you want but you could use novpdf printer driver
to create bookmarks in a pdf file which serve as a table of contents some
what.
It uses rules you define such as take all group heading that are arial size
14 and turn them into
bookmarks.

Mark, do you have a product that will split a PDF into files based on the
BookMark (and name them by bookmark)? I would like to print a very large
Access report to PDF and then split it into a large number of PDF's based on
Bookmark?
novpdf has me half way there.
