Post subject: A couple of problems while using Visio 2007
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>visio>general (more info?)

A user will type names in box 1 in an org chart and once she goes to type
into box 2 , the data she typed in box 1 dissapears. This is a random
problem, I was not able to recreate on my PC but I saw it happen on her PC
and she states that others in her group are also having this problem.
Reinstalls did not fix the issue.

Another user is also having a problem. When the text is in bold and she
makes a change to the box, the bold disappears and it has to be bolded again.

Just wondering if anyone has runinto anything similar before?

Archived from groups: per prev. post (more info?)

I'm not entirely sure what you are describing, but it might help to know how
the Organization Chart diagram handles text. When you enter text into an
Org Chart shape, Visio takes the text and breaks it up into Name and Title
properties on the shape. This information is placed into shape Custom
Properties (called Shape Data in Visio 2007). Then Visio updates the text
from the Custom Properties. In theory you get what you started with, but
Visio is disassembling and reassembling your text.

You might see if the user is adding a bunch of carriage returns to the text.
Visio uses carriage returns to decide how to break up the text into Custom
Properties.
