Post subject: converting to a PDF from Publisher using add in files from publish Archived from groups: microsoft>public>publisher (more info?)
When I convert a publisher file to a pdf it seems fine on my system but some
of my clients can't recognise the file (it shows up as a winmail.dat file).
Is this a problem with the publisher pdf converter or email problem?

It certainly isn't with Publisher or the Office add-in. Might get some insight
with this article.

Not sure I agree with your analysis there. I would suggest it is a
problem at his end , he is using Outlook, the only email client that
generates the winmail.dat attachment. He is attaching to a message that
is in other than plain text, hence the winmail.dat, that his recipients
cannot read. If he attaches his .pdf to a plain text message most if not
all his recipients will be able a to read his message and detach the
..pdf attachment.
Which I think is what it says in the referenced file.

Thank you for your response in reference to my conversion to a pdf
(winmail.dat file). Switching to plain texts works but then I can't use my
business card or my logo in my signature.
I bought all new 2007 microsoft small business apps becasue as a low tech
guy I thought i'd be all set. "Now just when I thought I was out they pulled
me back!"

I suppose it depends on how you look at it. I see it as a problem that other
email programs have rather than an Outlook-caused issue.

Not at all. Just a different way of looking at it.
