Hi. I had a bookmark in my code that worhed fine. When I added another one,
clicking the link takes me there but changed the view from 100% to 800%. It
seems to be OK in Web Preview, but I can't test in the source because it put
the huge bookmark in the middle of the page. Any thoughts - it's time
consuming?

I can't reproduce your issue of having the view jump to 800%, but if I
understand what you are writing, you can move bookmarks anywhere on your
page, and resize them. If I insert a code fragment, it goes to the middle of
the page, and I must move it to where I want it, and resize it just as I
would a text box, etc. Sounds like the same thing you are describing.

I'm not explaining it very well. I think I did something when I clicked the
link - like before I got to the new page, I was still holding "ctrl" and
started scrolling down, which of course changes the view. By the time the
page showed, it was 800% and now every time I ctrl click on a bookmark it
does that. If there's no easy fix, I'm going to forget about it until I see
if it works when I publish the site (which I'm hoping will be soon. Thanks
for your help.

Seems to me that when I hold the Ctrl key and scroll that does increase the
page size. Try doing it the other way to 100%. Or perhaps just hit F9.

Also I think the bookmark tool in 2007 is a relative link, which means that
if you do a web page preview, you should be able to just click on the link,
and it will take you to the anchor. I rarely use the Ctrl + click the
link...I just do a web page preview and test it there.

So if it works in web page preview, it should work after it's published(?)
Thanks a bunch.

That is the definition of web page preview.

With that said, if you are previewing it in IE, then you should also
download and install FireFox so you can test your site with that browser
too. If your site functions well in both, then it should work in all/most
browsers.

FireFox (7.8 MB): http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/

Version 3 is a little larger than 2, but download and install it, and just
make sure that you opt out of making it your default browser and you won't
have any problems. Then when you Publish to the Web, direct your web files
(an index.htm file and index_files folder containing your other pages and
images) to somewhere on your computer where you can easily find them. I
create a folder on my desktop: testhtml , and put them there. Then you can
right click each .htm file and open with FF, to see how it is going to look
in FF. Be sure to test the .htm files in the index_files folder.

This may seem like a lot of extra work, but it is worth it. Given how much
time and effort you have already invested, it is worth taking the time to
make sure your site is going to have good cross browser support.

Just my 2 cents worth...for you and for anyone that is using Publisher to
produce their websites.
