A Visio user in my office created a Visio drawing, but when she tried to
print the drawing, her computer shutdown. She emailed the drawing to other
Visio users, and the same thing happened to them. The shutdown only occurs
on network printers. If the printer is set up on a local printer, the
drawing prints without issue. Since most users in the corporation do not
have local printers and use only a network printer, this is causing an issue.
Is there a setting within Visio that is causing the shutdown?

A blank document does the same thing - shutdowns the entire computer. The
printer driver is HPC24306.gpd. The port is Standard TCP/IP port. We are
using 2003 Professional version of Visio - 5.1.2600 Service Pack 2 Build 2600.

I'm having the exact same problem, except it's also happening to printers
using USB Printing. I've had four different computers have the same problem.
We've tried Visio 2000, Visio 2007 Std and Pro, and they've all done this
immediate shutdown problem. Visio 2003 Viewer doesn't seem to do this,
though. This also appears to be related to one specific document, as other
documents don't give this issue. A blank document doesn't cause this problem
either.

We're sort of stumped. What can we do about this?

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/935843/en-us
provides a hotfix for this issue. It's related to a few print drivers that
cause crashing after a certain other hotfix is applied.

After installing this hotfix on affected computers, the problem was resolved.
