Visio printing on HP500DJ

I am trying to print a rather large Visio 2003 Database
ERD on an HP 500 DesignJet plotter. This document is 23.5
x 86 inches. I set the printer paper size to 23.5x86, but
Visio seems to ignore this (won't show up in paper size
list). I have tried to force "fit to 1x1 pages" - this
tends to create a zoom-in effect so that an 8.5x11 page
segment is now printed on a 23.5x86 page.

I want to print a 23.5x86 inch ERD on 23.5x86 inch plotter
paper. Should be simple, right?

I've had similar problems and have spent hours on the
phone with the Microsoft helpdesk. I even tried printing
to a pdf and then sending it to the plotter (I've got an
HP 500PS). Ultimately Microsoft sent installation files
for Visio 2000 and asked us to install and use this
because it is the only way to print on the HP plotter.
This was in June and a fix was promised, but I don't see
one in the service pack.
