Post subject: Visio 2007 Pro tries to install each time I run it... Archived from groups: microsoft>public>visio>general (more info?)
When I run Visio, a small window appears saying that it is installing Visio
and then another window appears saying, ...now configuring Visio... it does
that and finally, Visio opens normally. I tried to remove Visio and
re-installing it and the same problem occurs. Is it a known problem? I have
Vista Ultimate SP1. Thanks for your help.

Do you have two versions of Visio installed?
If so, running one will configure for that version. Running the other, it
will then configure for that version.
There is a Registry fix if that is the issue.

Hello Paddy, could you tell me where to find the Registry fix for that
problem? Thanks a lot.

I would like it as well. I have Visio 2003 running on Win XP and it is
doing the same thing. I don't think I have 2 versions installed,
though.

If you have two versions of Visio installed on the same computer and you
switch between running them this is expected behavior. Visio needs to update
its files and repair itself in order to function properly. If you only have
one version of Visio on the computer and a repair is trigged each time you
launch it there is a problem. If this action is not performed by Visio it may
not function properly. When installing Visio you may want to consider closing
down all other applications especially anti-virus applications. If this still
does not address the issue it could be caused by a corrupt profile. This can
be confirmed by creating a new profile then launch Visio.
