Post subject: Visio 2003 - can't reinstall
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>visio>installation (more info?)

I need to reinstall Visio 2003 on a WinXP pc that crashed. I
uninstalled the program via add/remove, then tried to reinstall it from
the original Visio 2003 Professional disk. When it wouldn't install I
ran Windows Installer Cleanup, but it still won't work. I keep getting
the message -

"Setup has detected a version of Viso 2003 already installed on your
computer that is newer than the version you are trying to install. We
recommend that you keep the currently installed version. If you want to
continue this installation, first uninstall the newer
version, then run this setup program again."

I've cleaned the registry with RegistryFix removing everything
referencing Visio. I then spoke to Microsoft (via TechNet Concierge)
requesting docs or info that might help but they had nothing to offer.

If anyone has any solutions please let me know asap.

Thanks!

I have the same problem.

From Add/Remove programs I removed ALL office products...
I ran Windows Install Cleanup Utility. It shows no Office products
installed...
I followed Method 1, 2, 3, 7, 9 in this KB article...
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;304498
I deleted the remaining C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office folder...
I reinstalled Office Professional 2003. No problems here...

When I try to install Visio 2003 I get the same message saying a newer
version is installed.

This is frustrating!

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Kevin
