Is there a bit of coding I can add so when someone clicks on the link to a
Vcard the file automatically dowloads and opens?

I hope not - I wouldn't want that to happen if I visited your site or any
site. For security reasons, the user must be able to make this choice.

If you import the .vcf into your web site and create a link to it, when the
user clicks the link they should get the dialog box that lets them choose
when to download it or open it.

Here is a link to a site that has Vcards:
http://www.mdhomepros.com/menuagent.asp?Filter=ALL
It is really cool you can downloads someone's complete contact information.

Here is a page I am building and have put the Vcard file in a hyperlink but
it does not work correctly: http://www.rigbyauctions.com/caprece.htm

Hope you can help me

Mary:

I tried this locally on a Windows server and it worked.
http://www.mdhomepros.com/ is also running on Windows -
http://www.rigbyauctions.com/ is running on an Apache server. That might
have something to do with it - can you check with your server admin?

See:

You might need to check with your web host about setting a mime type for .vcf
