Post subject: Update/Synchronise a 'Project'
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>visual>sourcesafe (more info?)

WinXP and VSS6.

We have 'Project' created called say 'Employment', 'Shared1' and 'Shared2'.
Under the 'Employment' we added the C# project (called EmployCal) and its
units. Also put shared files under 'Shared1' and 'Shared2'.
The C# project 'EmployCal' will use files under 'Shared1' and 'Shared2'.

So on the left pane it has -
Employment
Shared1
Shared2

As our team have 4 developers. Some of them will modify these shared files.
What will be the best way to update/synchronise the project 'EmployCal'?

I know I can right click the project 'EmployCal', 'Shared1' and 'Shared2'
and select 'Get Latest Version' to update the three whole projects onto my
local machine.

But is there a better way to just synchronise the project 'EmployCal'?

I used the open source version 'FreeVCS' has this function. It allows
sychnroisation of the project and its associated files. It does not need to
'Get' latest version of each 'Project'.

If you use Visual Studio, you can create a solution with those three
projects in it. When you "Get Latest" on the solution, it will retrieve the
latest version of each file listed in each project under the solution.

Thanks for your suggestion.
The current situation is that. So I don't think I can change that.
The 'Shared1' and 'Shared2' are not actually the projects, we just created
inside the VSS6. And put the shared files under these VSS Projects.
The working folder of these shared files are
Shared1 - c:\Source\Shared\Functions (this folder contains shared functions)
Shared2 - c:\Source\Shared\Classes (this folder contains shared classes)
Employment - c:\Source\Employ (this folder contains EmployCal project and
its files and references the above 2 shared folders)

If someone changed
c:\Source\Shared\Functions and
c:\Source\Shared\Classes

I need to look at the timestamp of both folders to see if I need to get
latest version.

If I have 10 shared folders, then it will be a nightmare!

The only way (this is the bad way) I guess is
