I have a Publisher 2007 file in which I used the Line Tool to draw some solid
black rules. I converted it to a PDF using Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional. The
final output will print spot color, but my commercial printer says the rules
(and only the rules) are showing up as cmyk. is there a work around?

Thanks!

Yes, have the printer fix it. They can do it *VERY* easily. Either they
don't know that they can do it easily (find a new printer) or they don't
want to (think about finding a new printer).

If you have Acrobat Professional there are tools in Acrobat that should
allow you to fix this yourself. There are plug-in's to Acrobat that
easily do this but they get a bit pricey. Most of what you need should
already are included in Acrobat Pro 8.

Thanks Matt.

Got any plug-in specifically I can try? I'd like to learn and control myself.

Enfocus PitStop Professional or Callas pdfToolbox.

If you'd like to learn more feel free to get a hold of me. For the sake
of transparency I sell and train for both products. Of course you're
welcome to purchase wherever suits you.

I figured it out - set the job under "Color Printing" to 'Process colors plus
spot', and then change the color of the rule from RGB to 100 black CMYK. Had
to down load the PDF plug in and set to' Commercial Printing' for the final
output.

Thanks for your efforts...
