I have reorganized my website by moving some pages between folders. All the
links work fine, but the search web-bot returns links to both the new AND old
locations of found pages - naturally, the latter are broken. How to remove
these old locations from the search index? I have published the entire site
after the re-org.

Try using the Recalculate Hyperlinks function. That should get the
extensions to recheck everything.

I recalculated links on the local site and published the entire web, but
still get search results pointing to deleted pages. The site is hosted by an
ISP on a non-Windows server; how can I recalculate links there?

File | Open Site and open the live web on the host server, and recalculate
the hyperlinks on the live web.
Note: Any time you make major changes to a page, or add/delete a page, you
need to do this in order to update the search feature.

FP2002 does not want to open a remote site - says "folder
http://www.mysite.org not found" But I was able to connect with FP2003 and
ran link recalc, but it errored out - something about FPX not installed
properly. I have requested tech support from the ISP.
Thanks to all for your help.

Open the live/remote site directly in FP via File Menu | Open Site / Web.

The index function that FP uses is part of the services available on the
server where the webserver resides. If your not running a Windows server
but are running FPSE under say some kind of Unix, then the question is what
kind of "index" service does Unix run that intregrates with the FPSE? In
Server 2000 I believe I have stumbled over settings in the MMC console that
will cause the indexing service to "re-fresh/re-index" things.

Hi, I have totally overhauled my company's website http://www.pcaus.com, and
I am having the same issue, I have tried all of the things suggested here to
get my site re-indexed, and pages that do not even exists anymore are still
showing up in the search results, with old content that has been totally
removed still being displayed, what can I do to get the old junk removed??
Thanks,
Tim
