Post subject: Media Player not playing video after uploading my website Archived from groups: microsoft>public>frontpage>addins (more info?)
Hello,
I'm hoping someone can help! I have downloaded the add-in for media player
to Frontapge so that I can play a short video clip on my website. When I have
frontpage open and click on preview, I can watch the video, however after I
upload it to my hosting company, the video will not play. Is there something
else I need to add to make this work. This video is very important to all
home and business users. Any recommendations, would be greatly appreciated.

Do you have a link to the page with the video?
If the video is very large, have you waited for it to download?

I had a link at the top of our homepage, however I removed it because I
didn't want someone to click on a link that doesn't work. I have been working
on this since last night and I'm stumped at this point. If I open the
specific page via Frontpage 2002 on my desktop, it works fine under the
preview tab. Once I upload it to our hosting companies server and go out to
our website, it just sits there and does nothing. The wmv file is 6,609 kb.
Here is the process that I am taking. I open the page, click insert windows
media player, add the file, go through each required step until finish.
Windows media player appears. I don't believe I'm doing anything wrong,
however I may be. Please help!

Make sure you are opening the local copy of the web first in FP, import your video file into your
current open FP web, then open the page and insert and then configure the media player.

Hello Thomas,
Iy looks like the step that I was missing was the file>import first, then
insert media player. I was able to go out to our website, click on the link
and watch the video. The one thing that is strange is a small window opens to
the top left instead of the tvideo & audio appearing in the windows media
player. If you have the opportunity, please visit our site at
www.homesecurity4you.com and click on the link at the top, where we indicate
"A must see video". This may shock alot of people, but being in the security
business, we want consumers to know. Thank you so much for your help, we
greatly appreciate it.
BTW: This is our first time visiting the forum and I can see how wonderful
our experience has been so far. Have a wonderful day!

Hi Ronx & Thomas,
First, I want to thank you both for your expertise and assistance. We are
still using IE6, so maybe that is why we see a separate window pop up and
play the video. It's called the activemovie window. Not sure why this is
happening, but bottom line, it works and we are grateful for the help. Has
either of you heard about this disturbing news before?
