Archived from groups: microsoft>public>access>tablesdbdesign (more info?)

Hello,
I am trying to build a database that will automated the alias/mapping
process since right now it is a manual process. Thousand of transactions are
process every day and many of those fell out of the system because there are
variations on the customer name and address. The idea is to create a
database where each new entry is compared against a master customer list
based on the customer's name and address and to get a suggested master name
/score for review. How can I do this? Please help.

Thank you

Jay

We aren't there. We can't see what you've already done. We don't know your
situation as well as you do.

More specific information (including what you've tried and how it didn't
work -- e.g., error messages, etc.) will probably result in more specific
suggestions.

You're post is a bit like asking "how do I build a vehicle?"

For example, you mention "many of those fell out of the system" ... what
system?!

Can you build a table with customer name/address info? Of course.

How do you build a user-friendly interface that validates new transactions
against that customer list and finds matches (?or close matches ... defined
as ??!) and allows for new customers to be added and ...? That sounds like
a major development project, not a "how do I" question.

More info, please!
