I plan on purchasing a new computer and would like to install my "Upgrade"
Microsft Office Small Business Edition 2003 software on the new computer. I
will be recycling the old computer. Can I install the software on the new
computer without infringing on the licensing agreement? Because the software
is an upgrade version will I need to purchase a computer with a certain
software package? I plan on purchasing a DELL laptop computer. If I can
transfer the software, do I just use the "upgrade" CD from the software
package and let Microsoft take care of the rest?

You will probably have to register it on the phone and explain it. You own
the software and if you want to move it to another PC you can. I believe
Microsoft allows, in their license agreement, that you can have it on a
desktop and a laptop since it is assumed you will only be using one or the
other. I am not a lawyer but that has been my understood.

Oops - sorry, missed the Upgrade part. Install the original and then upgrade
it again on the new PC.

If you have a utility that does a complete transfer, it may move your current
installtion correctly. If it does not, then you may have to install the
original Small Business, then do the upgrade again. In most cases, you may
not have to install the original, you may be asked during installation of the
update edition to insert the original media. If you don't have the original
media, you may have to contact Microsoft.
