Post subject: Incorrect Product Key
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>access>setupconfig (more info?)

I bought a new laptop, preinstalled with Window Vista Home Basic by the
computer manufacturer. I have activated the Window Vista Home Basic by keying
in the product key found on the label pasted at the bottom of my laptop.

When I open Word, it require me to activate the product key. So, I key in
the same product key (Window Vista Home Basic product key) and it shows
incorrect product key.

1) Is the Window Vista Home Basic product key same with Word product key?
2) The Word software is preinstalled by the computer manufacturer, and I
don't find any other product key in the package. Do I have to purchase a new
product key for this activation?

Please kindly advise, thanks.

Product keys for Microsoft Products are product specific. So you will need
the key specific to your copy of Word. If Word was included with your
purchase, whomever sold you the computer is responsible for supplying the key.

BTW, this is not the correct newsgroup to ask this question. This newsgroup
is for Access. I am not even sure if there is a correct group as all these
groups are for user questions regarding the use of the products. If your
vendor cannot help you with the key, perhaps contacting Microsoft Support
would be your best bet.

Hi this is a similar question but slightly different.

I have a new laptop with Vista Preium Home Edition. It has a trial vers of
the MS office suite.

I just purchased MS Office Home and Student 2007 online. I have the product
key. However, when I try to activate the product from the trial version, it
tells me the product key is incorrect.

I haven't ben able to get thru to MS for support (without paying $49!), so I
have a purchase that I cannot use.

It's all pretty frustrating and I could use someone's kind assistance.

Thanks so much -
Ann

PS: on another issue: no Microsoft emails are appearing in my email (Mozilla
Firefox).

I don't know if this is what you done or not but you need to uninstall the
trial version that came with your computer and install the one that you
purchased. I kind of caught the tail end of this subject so I could be
misleading you...
