Do you know how to print the file path to the document in
the footer of the document? It should look something like
this: //data/user/llarosa/mydocs/filename.vsd. We have to
start printing these on all of our documents now. Thanks
in advance.

The choice for items in the header and footer is limited. You can display
the fully qualified name if you use a background page.
Header and Footers were added to Visio to overcome a specific problem with
Visio, but they are not as powerful as background pages. If the Visio
drawing fits on a single page of paper, the background pages work fine. The
Header and Footers were added when the drawing page ends up printing over
multiple printer pages. The Header and Footer is aligned based on the
printed page not the drawing page, so each printed page gets a header and a
footer.
So if your Visio file contains Visio drawings that are the same size as the
paper it is printed on then a background page can do everything a header and
footer will do (and more).

John, Thank you so much for a timely response. I have one
more question however. Does this mean that even if I put a
background page that there is no formatting code to get
the file and path to appear in the header and footer? If
so, do you know the code?

What you can place in a header or footer is restricted to a couple of
choices. Unfortunately, Custom properties is not one of them. A custom
property would allow placing anything in the header or footer.
To add items like file location to a background page, create a text block on
the background page and use Insert Field. The "directory" is under the
Document Information. In the Text block you can mix text and fields. Since
you are emulating headers and footers, you can also insert page number and
number of pages on the background page. (The page number is the number of
the page the background page is attached to.)
