Post subject: Creating reports
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>visual>sourcesafe (more info?)

I'm using Visual SourceSafe 8 and trying to create a report on my
project. Basically I want to create a spreadsheet which contains the
following example.

Path user date/time details
c:\somepath Bob 12/12/2007 10:00 Fixed GP

However what happens is that after I choose history and select
recursive I get the following in the text file. There are carriage
returns after some and after Fixed.

c:\some Bob 12/12/2007 10:00 Fixed
path GP

So what ends up happening is that when I import the text file into
excel, it looks like this.

1 c:\some Bob 12/12/2007 10:00 Fixed
2 path GP

I have a lot of files to do, so editing the text file and cutting and
pasting to rejoin the separated texts will take a very long time. Is
there any way I can manipulate Visual Source Safe to get it to print
out the way I want to? Or is there some other tool out there that
won't rearrange my data? It seems that the smaller paths and smaller
details are not affected. Seems to be after a certain length, they go
to the next page, but the length is not anything large, its quite
small, like 10 characters or so (I didn't really count, so i'm just
guessing).

Thanks,
Matt

You may try checking the "Include details" option in the History
Report dialog box.

Also, you may try the Keyword Expansion feature of SourceSafe:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/d826hy97(VS.80).aspx

You can also post the questions on SourceSafe at:

I will try my best to help you.

Thanks.
