Post subject: unable to accept meeting request Archived from groups: microsoft>public>outlook>calendaring (more info?)
Our environment is outlook 2007 / Exchange 2003 (migrated from 5.5 years
ago) both fully patched.
Our problem is if some one external to the company sends a new meeting
request from their outlook 2007 client via SMTP/POP3 internet configuration,
then when we receive the email with the meeting request file (.ics) attached
we can't accept it. The buttons (Accepts, Decline etc) are all greyed out
and we are informed "As the meeting organizer, you do not need to respond to
the meeting".
Any ideas?
TBH I'm surprised that no one has brought this to my attention in the 4
years we've been running 2k3, so have a slight concern that when I patched
the server about 2 weeks ago it introduced this problem - but I can't be
sure as almost all external meetings would actually come from clients who
are also running client/server set-ups rather that standalone and these seem
to still work.

I am seeing the same issue when I send someone outside our exchange environment a meeting request. It looks like a meeting request but as described buttons are greyed out and states as the meeting organizer you do not need to respond, but they are not the organizer. Please let me know if you find the cause/solution.

So you are using Exchange 2003 that was upgraded from Exchange 5.5 and are
using Outlook 2007? Do you have the latest updates installed on Outlook
2007? (SP2) Is Exchange 2003 fully patched as well? If yu aren't sure,
report back with the version numbers from Help, About.
PS - it's much more productive and less annoying to those who can help you
if you start your own thread. The year old content in your post doesn't
serve a purpose, especially if the you aren't using the exact same versions.
We also recommend that you don't use eggheadcafe - use the direct interface
to the Microsoft newsgroups at

instead. Or use an NNTP reader - the server name is msnews.microsoft.com
