When I have a text document at times I find I perhaps want to add a word or
sentence in between two other words, however when I start to add the new
sentence the original letters get deleted when I type the new ones in. How do
I stop it so I can easily add words in between others on Word without
deleting the rest of the document that should follow them????

Press the Insert key to toggle between Overtype mode (what you have now) and
Insert mode.
In Word 2003 and earlier, if the letters OVR in the status bar at the bottom
of the Word window are black, you're in Overtype mode; if they're gray,
you're in Insert mode. You can also toggle the mode by double-clicking those
letters.
In Word 2007 you first have to right-click the status bar and check the
Overtype item in the menu. After that, either "Overtype" or "Insert" appears
in the status bar, and single-clicking the word changes the mode.

Press the Insert button on your keyboard. You may notice at the buttom of
your Word window a black OVR, this indicates that Overtype has been activated.
Hope this helps
