Can anyone please tell me if I can password protect a presentation? The
same options available when saving Word aren't there for PowerPoint.
Currently I'm running PowerPoint 2000 on Win 98. I'm am receiving a new
computer, hopefully shortly, with Win XP and Office 2003.

In short, no in 2000, but yes* for PPT 2002 and above.
* Here are a few things you will want to keep in mind. The password
protection used in 2002 and above, disables the presentations from being
opened or played at all in 2000 and before. If you will be sending this out
to someone using 2000, include the PPT viewer or at least a link to it.
They will need to use the free viewer program to see the password protected
2002 presentation.
** A note on security in general. 1) If you display it on a screen, then
someone can capture it as a picture. 2) All passwords and encryption can be
broken with enough time and motivation. 3) PowerPoint passwords have been
offered as a very low level security (against accidental changes more than
from dedicated hacker).

Unforturnately I'm working w/Vista and
password protection can be done, but is very different from 98.

Passwording a PPT file is a function of PowerPoint, not the operating
system. PPT 2000 (the version thelees mentioned) doesn't have password
protection built-in, so the operating system password options may come into
play with it.

Not sure what you mean ... password protecting a PPT file has more to do
with the version of PowerPoint you're running than the Windows version.
