Post subject: Another "out of memory" scenario
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>word>application>errors (more info?)

Using Word 2003
If I do a FILE--> OPEN then tryto use the "my recent documents" button
I get an out of memory error I can select files from the fill/open
roster but I cant go near that recent button

anyone know whats up ?

I've just found the same in a word 2003 installation where the user has save some documents as this.and.that.doc.
Word has never benn godd on docs with long path names and dots on filenames. In this case it payed to delete the files with dots on their names in the "my recent documents" folder.
Hope this helps someone.

I forgot to mention, and this I think was the real reason for the "out of
memory" error: "my recent documents" , defined in a roaming profile easily
create a very long path with long filenames.
Deleting the files there, and begining from scratch, erradicated the problem.
