In Microsoft Word 2003, under Edit menu and then click on Links, the
automatic update check box is grey-out (it can not be selected). How can I
make the automatic update check box available. I want to automatic update
fields instantly after entering data or text in field.

Hi Customer,
I suspect the issue you're having is that the document:
.. is not linked to an external file; and/or
.. is protected for forms.
If you want the results of an updated formfield to automatically update a cross-reference elsewhere in the document, you need to set
that formfield's properties to 'calculate on exit'. Note: this updating only occurs when you exit the field, not while you're in the
process of updating it.
