Post subject: find and replace all error message
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>excel>crashesgpfs (more info?)

I am trying to create a macro that finds and replaces all cells with the text
"strongly disagree" with the number 1. When I click replace all, I get this
error message:

microsoft office excel cannot find any data to replace. check if your search
formatting and criteria are defined correctly. if you are sure that matching
data exists in this workbook, it may be on a protected sheet. excel cannot
replace data on a protected worksheet.

I'm able to replace one cell at a time, but then I may miss some when I add
new data. If I can do replace all, I don't have to worry about missing any.

Any ideas?

It would be helpful if you'd show your code.

I didn't code anything, I only used the Record Macro option and it records
what I do.

Also, whether I'm running a macro or not, if i just do a regular find and
replace all, i get that error.
