Hi,

I'm using Excel 2000 and windows 2000 professional.

This started about two days ago:

When I double click on an xlt file, my computer returns:

Cannot find the file 'K:\Customer Service\Quote\Cost Roll-up.xlt'(or
one of its components). Make sure the path and filename are correct
and that all required libraries are available.

I thought my file was corrupt.

But the file works properly for other users.

I copied the file to my c drive and it still returns the message.

In fact, I cannot double click any Excel template file without getting
the message.

I can open the file by opening an instance of Excel and choosing file/
open.

I know of no changes to my computer recently other than adding another
500 kb memory.

How should I start trouble shooting this?

Thanks,

Dan

Try the usual fix for this.

Tools>Options>General Uncheck "Ignore Other Applications"

If no joy with that................

Close Excel first and On the Windows Taskbar

1) Start>Run "excel.exe /unregserver"(no quotes)>OK.
2) Start>Run "excel.exe /regserver"(no quotes)>OK.

See the space between exe and /regserver

You might have to designate a full path to excel.exe.

In that case Start>Run "C:\yourpath\excel.exe" /regserver(quotes required)>OK.

Hi,

Perhaps you need to reinstall excel. If this still not work, you may
try to recover the template. If necessary, you can try Advanced Excel
Repair at http://www.datanumen.com/aer/ This tool is rather useful in
salvaging damaged Excel xls files. Hope this can help.
