Post subject: conversion of scanned gif document to word editable text Archived from groups: microsoft>public>word>conversions (more info?)
I have recd. some scanned documents that i which to convert to
editable text.
I had tried out many possible combinations like from .gif to pdf then
to word
nothing works out.
is there any software that can convert the .gif documents into
editable word document.
the document is scanned handwriting too, is it possible to convert it.

Convert the GIF to TIF and any OCR software will convert it. Some (eg
Finereader) will also handle PDF.
Your bigger problem is the fact that the text is handwriting. It will time
consuming (if indeed it is possible) to train the OCR software to read the
handwriting. It may be quicker (and cheaper) to pay a copy typist to
transcribe it.
