Post subject: how do I change powerpoint slide advance method using a remote
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>powerpoint (more info?)

I have a powerpoint presentation which in presenter mode advances slides
using a space bar click. My remote advances slides using a mouse click with
cursor over advance (or back) arrows on presenter view. How can I change the
powerpoint file to advance using mouse clicks in presenter view without
having to keep the cursor on advance (or back) arrows. The cursur drifts off
the arrows when I'm presenting at a distance.

May be this answer will be of no use?
I use the Microsoft Wireless Notebook Presenter Mouse (8000) in presenter
mode (with laser beam).

One trick I've used to make it easier for presenters in similar situations:

Put two rectangles on the first slide, one filling the right half of the slide,
the other the left half.

Assign the right rectangle a Next Slide action, the left rectangle a Previous
Slide action.

Give the rectangles no outline, fill 99% transparent. They'll disappear but
will still be able to "grab" mouseclicks.

Copy both rectangles to the other slides in the presentation.

Now all you need to do is click anywhere on the right half of a slide to
advance or click on the left to back up.

If you don't expect to back up often, you might even want to make the right
rectangle fill 3/4 or more of the slide, the left rectangle proportionally
less.
