I can't open old doc files. I ran the "fix" RestoreBlockingWord.reg but
it didn't help. Checking the registry the "fix" appears as

The registry fix name should have given you a clue that this entry re-blocks
the files.
You appear to have downloaded the wrong registry patch.
See http://support.microsoft.com/kb/938810
Download the correct patch from that page or change the value to 0
