Post subject: Workgroup Templates Archived from groups: microsoft>public>word>customization>menustoolbars (more info?)
we have customized templates and have them on a share.
In word, under workgroup templates, they would enter,
\\servername\sharename for the location.
I am trying to decommission the server that hosts the templates.
Several weeks ago, we moved and scripted the change to our users too,
R:\Templates.
When I shut down the server, and users try to open a DOC that was
created using a template from \\servername\sharename WORD hangs and in
the bottom left hand corner of WORD, it says, "trying to connect to
\\servername\sharename. If you hit ESC the DOC finally opens.
I guess my question is, how can I remove this server from the
environment and the DOCs not care about an old template location?
Please reply to the newsgroup unless you wish to avail yourself of my
services on a paid consulting basis.
