Word forms opening slowly and slow to fill in too

Some of our colleagues have rolled out several Word forms and our customers are having speed issues both opening and filling in.

We have a workaround with the opening by asking our customers to 'Save Target As..' but hardly elegant . We can repeat this in the office but what we can't repeat is the speed issue with filling in the form itself. Customers are saying that they see the typing appear seconds after they have hit the keys

Any ideas?
