I am using Vista and Word 2007. Yesterday, Word stopped responding to
anything. I try opening a saved file and it does not respond. I try to save a
blank document and it does not respond. I have rebooted several times. Any
ideas?

Usual causes are:

1. Misbehaving add-in. Solution: turn off add-ins and see if the problem
goes away.

2. Corrupted Normal.dotm file. Solution: rename Normal.dotm.

3. Corrupted Data key. Solution: rename the Data key in the registry.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Word

If those aren't enough to get you pointed in the right direction, this
article will explain how to troubleshoot and implement the solutions:

Thank you for your reply. I spent most the morning trying to figure out how
to make the corrections you stated below, but cannot. I am not sure how to do
it and the instructions I found did not seem to match Word 07. I uninstalled
Office and reinstalled it and it is still doing the same thing. If I open it
using run 'winword.exe /a' it seems to run fine, but I am not sure how to get
it to work otherwise.
